New Things

Today was another big day at Dd HQ. After pasting up all those boards a few weeks ago, I finally have the new range of Flying Ducks and Galloping Horses in my hot little hands. Today I had the pleasure of spending a morning with the lovely Cath Leo of Catherine Leo Photography. We had a great time styling the shots (we spent a lot of time moving things 1cm to the left and then back 1cm to the right). The final shots are still being finalised but here are a few behind the scenes shots as well as my newest addition to the Dd range.....coming soon.

The props table. Unorganised chaos...loving those colours.

Kale flowers. Who would have thought cabbage could be this beautiful?

coming soon.....to be continued.

Wallpaper day

Today was wallpaper day! We cut and pasted fifteen beautiful rolls of vintage wallpaper which are now on their way to the laser cutter who will turn them into flying ducks and galloping horses. It was a huge job. Luckily winter hasn't set in yet, so we could do it in the backyard in the lovely sunshine.

Pasting the plywood boards. Its was so much fun seeing the wallpapers in all their glorious flatness.

Six hours and four rather sore knees later we had a nice big pile of pasted plywood.

Loving all these colours together.

My favourite wallpaper of the day. Its so rare to find vintage wallpapers with black back grounds. This one is super happy with bright yellows. circa 1970

Can't wait to see the finished product!

To market to market.....

Tis the season to be jolly and tis the season to hold a market!
I've been travelling round the country side having a SUPER time. Last stop was the Finders Keepers market, Brisbane (photos below). Held in the beautiful Old Museum building, it was a picture perfect weekend with fantastic food, wine, coffee and live music. Not to mention all the market goodies on offer.

Next stop is my Market at Home this Friday, with fellow Adelaide designers (and all round great gals) Cath Leo, little luv and Mudbric. Our annual home market is always great fun with plenty of space for kids to run about, and we'd love you to hang around for a cuppa and a catch up. PS Please send me a message for the address.

Sanna Annukka

If you've ever browsed the print pattern blog you probably know the work of Sanna Annukka. I spent a good half hour today perusing her website. And now its official - I heart Sanna Annukka. A bit folky, a bit Scandinavian, a bit cute, a bit cool. She's the bomb. I particularly love the monotone design below.

Bowerbird Bazaar

Last weekend was one of those exceptionally fine spring weekends here in Adelaide. Which was the perfect setting for the third Bowerbird Bazaar. This time saw quite a few old stall favourites like Messagemark, Mookah and Naomi Murell - as well as some new kids on the block. little luv were there with some beautiful vintage fabric birdy mobiles, and Studio Eco had a fantastic looking stall full of really wonderful sustainable art/homewares/jewellery. Unfortunately for you, dear reader, I was stuck over at my stall all weekend so can only provide you with these photos of my little corner... but take my word for it, those other stalls were really fab!

Thanks to everyone who came by and a big thanks to Jane and Rebekah who always manage to put on such a great show.

Spring = new things

I've been beavering away over winter, plotting a new jewellery range and I'm happy to say its all starting to come together. This necklace features my new favourite wallpaper - a vintage Hot Pink, Orange and Burgundy number. Its a bit of an eye-catcher. This morning the sun has finally joined us, so we headed down to the park for a picnic and a few photos. Here's a sneak peek of the newest additions with more coming soon...big thanks to Cath Leo for the photos

Oooops, sorry....

Well, that's absolutely shocking! Its been six months since I last posted! I've been working hard (pomise!) and have to admit that I get screen fever which can only be cured by long stints away from my computer. And there has been the odd interstate design market, as well as designing a new range of jewellery (more on that soon). And, most importantly, I've been 'greening' Delilah. I'm now proud to say my timber is now sourced from all Australian, sustainability certified plantations. All my packaging is recycled and printing is done on recycled paper....ahhh. That feels better!
So for the meantime until I can show you my new work, here are some of the lovely things I've seen around the place lately...
